Monday 20 to Friday 24 April 2009 Abbey House, Glastonbury The Beautiful Life retreat takes place in the light and spacious arms of Abbey House, Glastonbury. With views of, and free access to, the Abbey ruins; and in the shadow of Glastonbury Tor, Abbey House is a wonderful setting both for rest and inner adventure. One of its special joys is the number of different spaces it provides: large, small, light and dark, communal and private. You will find the places you need to find. Arrival 4.00pm Monday; departure after breakfast, Friday. The retreat will be led by Simon Parke, and built loosely around his book, The Beautiful Life, published by Bloomsbury. There will be a programme for the days; but of course, all things are optional. You will make the retreat you want. Each day will start and end with a meditation. There will also be communal times with reflections on the ten new commandments from Simon; and the chance for discussion. These sessions may also include some form of visualisation or guided meditation. There is also the chance to meet one-to-one with Simon if you wish. There will be inner work, rest, silence, sharing, good food, a bar trolley! – and lovely walks, if you wish. There may be tears; there will almost certainly be laughter. On the Thursday afternoon, we will keep silence – a retreat within the retreat. If the thought of that is strange, help can be provided. The Beautiful Life retreat is a mixture of reflection, community, space, play and inner adventure, both for those experienced in retreats, and for those who've never done anything like this before!
