EPISODE 6
THE GREAT DAVIDO AND DAISY
The Great Davido cuts quite a figure in his leotard, each sinew and muscle like a word in a dictionary well defined.
It's dewy early morning as he practises yoga moves outside his trailer. It helps keep him supple and noticed by passers-by. And here comes Daisy; passing-by, and passing pretty.
"I hear Samantha was on good form last night," she says.
Daisy looks after the circus animals, but doesn't always attend performances.
"Yes, she hung from my mouth most competently," says Davido, with the trace of a leer.
It was always the climax of the performance. High up in the circus tent, Samantha would hang suspended from the Great Davido's mouth, while twirling glittering ribbon. It was stunning, beautiful, and audiences were always amazed.
"Worthy of the Cirque du Soleil," says Davido. "As indeed you are, Daisy."
"They don't use animals," she replies calmly. "Only human performers."
"Oh, come now," he says, moving towards her. "I'm sure your talents extend beyond stroking horses. I have no doubt I could bring out the acrobat in you. I'd have you hanging from my mouth in no time!"
Daisy feels sick as she walks on towards the stables. Sick at the arrogance of the man; and sick that she so values his advances.
